NEW DELHI: Five days are a long time in ideological rivalry.After Pranab Mukherjee’s chief guest turn at the RSS headquarters on Thursday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will appear in a Maharashtra court on June 12 over a defamation case filed against him by RSS. Rahul will be travelling to Bhiwandi on Tuesday because his personal appearance is mandatory. Interestingly, he will address the party’s booth-level workers in Mumbai later in the day.
RSS has dragged Rahul to court for his comment that “RSS people killed Mahatma Gandhi”. The court is likely to frame charges against Rahul on his appearance.
It would mark a stark contrast in the tryst of Mukherjee and Rahul with the Hindutva fountainhead. While RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat showered lavish praise on Mukherjee as he sat next to him on the stage, the outfit has refused to drop the suit against Rahul.
