Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked his 74th birthday with a momentous visit to Odisha, launching a series of transformative projects aimed at empowering women and bolstering the state’s infrastructure. Alongside Odisha’s Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, PM Modi inaugurated the Subhadra Yojana, a financial aid scheme for women, and unveiled key railway and highway projects worth over Rs 3,800 crore.

This visit follows the BJP’s historic victory in the Odisha Assembly elections, where CM Majhi led the party to its first-ever win in the state. The projects unveiled today reinforce the BJP-led government’s commitment to Odisha’s progress.

Launch of Subhadra Yojana: Empowering Women Across Odisha

The centerpiece of the visit was the launch of the Subhadra Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting financial independence among women. The scheme, which will benefit women aged 21 to 60, promises Rs 50,000 over five years, with two annual installments of Rs 10,000. So far, 76 lakh women have registered, and over Rs 1,250 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 25 lakh beneficiaries during the event.

Infrastructure Boost: Railways and Highways

PM Modi, accompanied by CM Majhi, also laid the foundation for critical infrastructure projects, including railway developments worth Rs 2,871 crore and national highway projects valued at Rs 1,000 crore. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve connectivity across Odisha, facilitating economic growth and enhancing accessibility to remote areas.

A Shared Vision for Odisha’s Development

Addressing a large crowd at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, Modi expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the people of Odisha. “Odisha has always been the land of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, and it is a privilege to be here on this special day,” Modi said. He highlighted the unwavering support of CM Majhi, calling their partnership a driving force behind the state’s rapid progress.

Chief Minister Majhi, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of the Subhadra Yojana in transforming the lives of Odisha’s women. “This scheme will not only bring financial stability to women but also foster their role as equal participants in the state’s development,” he said, praising the leadership of PM Modi for prioritizing women’s welfare.

Personal Visit to PMAY Beneficiaries

During his visit, PM Modi also took time to meet with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He visited the home of Antrajamai and Jahaja Nayak, beneficiaries of the scheme, where he interacted with their family and enjoyed a traditional Odia dish, Khiri. Modi later shared his experience on social media, praising the warmth and hospitality of the family.

A New Era for Odisha Under BJP

With the partnership of PM Modi and CM Majhi, Odisha is witnessing a new era of development. The Subhadra Yojana, along with the infrastructure projects, signals the beginning of major initiatives aimed at improving the state’s social and economic fabric. As Odisha moves forward under the BJP-led government, these projects promise to deliver on the aspirations of its 4.5 crore people, ensuring growth, connectivity, and empowerment for all.
