As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha marked 500 days in office, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling every promise made to the people during the 2024 Assembly elections, positioning his tenure as a model of trust, delivery, and transparency.

Majhi, who assumed office on June 12, 2024, as Odisha’s first BJP Chief Minister, expressed gratitude to the citizens for their faith in his leadership.

“Your unwavering support and trust are the foundation of our government’s success. We have promptly implemented all the promises we made as a people’s government. Our basic principle is ‘keeping our word’. Inspired by this mantra, we have set a new, people-centric standard of governance in Odisha,” he said.

Empowering Farmers and Strengthening Rural Prosperity

Among the flagship reforms, the Chief Minister underscored his government’s landmark move to enhance the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy.

“Odisha’s farmers are now receiving ₹3,100 per quintal as promised — ₹2,300 as MSP and ₹800 as additional input assistance from the state government,” Majhi said.

Over 19 lakh farmers have received a direct financial benefit of ₹7,411 crore, while another 51 lakh farmers have benefited through the Chief Minister Kisan Yojana, boosting rural incomes and agrarian confidence across the state.

Women Empowerment and Inclusive Development

In one of the state’s most successful social empowerment initiatives, the Subhadra Yojana has reached over one crore women, providing financial assistance and promoting entrepreneurship.

Additionally, around 17 lakh women have become financially independent under the ‘Lakshapati Didi’ initiative, turning self-help groups into engines of local economic growth.

Industrial Acceleration and Job Creation

Under Majhi’s leadership, Odisha has witnessed a surge in industrialisation with new investments totalling ₹5.6 lakh crore, generating nearly 3.6 lakh employment opportunities.

A separate investment of ₹4,011 crore has been initiated to position Odisha as the semiconductor hub of India, signalling a future-oriented industrial vision.

To tackle unemployment, the government has created over 30,000 government jobs and an additional 1.64 lakh employment opportunities in private and allied sectors.

Education, Health, and Governance Reforms

Majhi highlighted the state’s renewed focus on quality education, announcing that Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Primary Schools are being established in every gram panchayat.

For quicker grievance redressal, citizens can now access the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell at the regional level — a move toward responsive and decentralised governance.

On healthcare, Majhi reiterated his commitment to inclusive health protection through the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, ensuring accessible medical coverage across rural and urban areas.

“Fulfilling your hopes and aspirations is our first duty,” Majhi affirmed.

Opposition’s Criticism and Government’s Response

While the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has accused the BJP government of failing to deliver on several promises, Chief Minister Majhi’s administration maintains that measurable progress across agriculture, industry, and social sectors speaks for itself.

The government’s transparent reporting mechanisms, real-time monitoring dashboards, and citizen feedback systems stand as proof of accountability-driven governance.

A Vision for the Future

In his concluding remarks, CM Majhi reiterated his administration’s long-term goal:

“Odisha is moving forward with clarity, courage, and compassion. Our government’s focus is not only on promises but on measurable outcomes — ensuring that every citizen feels the impact of progress.”

With record investments, empowerment schemes, and grassroots reforms, the Majhi-led government’s 500-day milestone reflects a decisive shift toward a self-reliant, inclusive, and development-driven Odisha.
