Nayagarh, October 3 :Odisha police toady arrested a youth on charges of making fraudulent calls to Nayagarh Superintendent of Police (SP) posing himself as IG Punjab police.
The accused has been identified as Ashok Nayak of Daspalla area.
According to reports, the imposter had approached the Nayagarh SP over phone to get some work done for one of his friends. Suspecting his identity, the SP asked Town police officials to conduct a probe into the matter.
After arrest of the imposter, Jayram Satpathy, Nayagarh SDPO, informed that the youth was making repeated calls to Nayagarh SP and was trying to influence him to get some work done.
A visiting card in the name of Ishwar C. Sharma, Inspector General of Police, Punjab and other identity cards have been recovered from his possession.
“The Punjab IG is my uncle and had given me the card and asked to use it in case of any trouble,” said the arrested.
