In yet another instance of poverty, the body of a woman was carried by her family members on a sling for nearly 40 kms as they couldn’t hire a vehicle or ambulance.
According to reports, one Mude Kalmari of Temurupalli village under Mathili block in the district fell ill following which her family members rushed her to a Mathili CHC.
However, the doctors present at the hospital allegedly expressed the inability to treat Mude.
The family members couldn’t take Mude to other hospital due to poverty; instead they took her near a sorcerer in Guruguda for treatment where the woman succumbed to her illness.
The poverty-stricken family members couldn’t even hire vehicle to carry the body to their village. They were forced to carry the body on shoulders for 40 km to reach their village.
