On the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik virtually gave the “Integrity Pledge” to all state officers on Monday.

At the Convention Center, a state-level event was planned for that reason. This year’s programme had the theme “Corruption-free India for a developed Nation” as its focus.

The Chief Minister watched as prizes were given to the top-performing senior officers and prosecutors outside the event. The Best Vigilance Division Award went to Bhubaneswar Vigilance.

The CM continued, “It is very encouraging to see that Odisha Vigilance is among the top performing anti-corruption agencies in the country in all major parameters like registration and disposal of corruption cases & conviction of corrupt public servants,” according to the most recent statistics in Crime in India-2021 published by the National Crime Record Bureau.

The Chief Minister pleaded with the Vigilance Department, saying, “I, therefore, urge upon Vigilance Department to take Odisha Vigilance to the next level by bringing in technology up-gradation and increasing its multi-disciplinary character by roping in additional specialists. To increase its capacity and efficiency, the Odisha Vigilance must make use of the greatest techniques and technological advancements in the field of anti-corruption.

The Chief Minister praised Odisha Vigilance for its persistent anti-corruption efforts. Additionally, he urged all public employees to conduct themselves with the utmost probity and integrity. He also made a plea to the people of Odisha to recommit themselves to the battle against corruption and to support the government’s efforts to increase transparency and combat it.

Speaking at the event, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra noted that thanks to the implementation of 5T and MO Sarkar, the majority of services are now available online. He stated that the state vigilance academy is one of the greatest academies in the nation and that the state vigilance is managed very professionally. The Chief Secretary emphasised the need to strengthen the internal monitoring system.
