In a horrifying occurrence, a man is accused of kidnapping and raping a little girl for four days in Paradip, in the Odisha district of Jagatsinghpur.
The victim, a young girl, was said to have been around 17 years old.
The young girl had travelled to her uncle’s home on Ganesh Chaturthi, which is about three to four kilometres from her residence (August 31).
She was allegedly kidnapped by the putative accuser, a driver.
Later, he allegedly forced himself on the girl for four days in a remote area next to a slum. He also allegedly sexually attacked her there.
The girl’s family had no idea of the minor’s whereabouts and was unable to get in touch with her because she didn’t have a cell phone.
The reports state that the family was not aware that their daughter had been absent from her uncle’s home for four days.
The victim, however, requested that another girl tell her family about her situation.
The girl then recounted the entire scenario to the victim’s family. The survivor’s family didn’t learn about her ordeal until later.
The victim’s family members then hurried to the location where she was being kept captive and freed her with the assistance of several locals.
It is significant that the family members reported the incident to the neighbourhood police department.
The alleged offender has been taken into custody by the police for questioning based on a complaint made by family members.
Further investigation is being conducted in this regard after a case was registered.
