Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi has sought a report from at least six district Collectors of the State pertaining to the damage caused to private properties during the recent heavy rain and flood.
In a letter written to the Collectors on behalf of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Odisha on Saturday, Sethi has directed them to submit the report by August 17 to expedite aid.
The Collectors have been asked through the letter to prepare the report with a focus on areas like houses, animal husbandry, boat and net, fish pond/ fish seed farm, sand cast, crop, handloom & handicraft artisans.
“For assessment of these damages, squad approach must be followed and adequate number of teams comprising members from different departments may be formed. The teams while covering an affected village will assess and enumerate beneficiaries in all sectors simultaneously,” the letters mention.
As per the provision laid down for the disbursal of the assistance to the beneficiaries, the money will be transferred to their bank accounts online. Hence the bank details of the eligible beneficiaries must be collected at the time of assessment, the letters add.
