In a significant development, the Orissa High Court recently granted bail to Archana Nag in a sextortion case that had been registered at the Khandagiri police station in Bhubaneswar. This decision comes after a previous bail was granted to Archana in April of this year, pertaining to a separate case filed at the Nayapalli Police Station in the city.
However, despite this bail, Archana Nag will continue to remain incarcerated. This is due to her arrest in connection with another similar case initiated by the enforcement directorate (ED).
Archana had sought relief from the high court after her initial bail plea was denied by the second additional sessions judge in Bhubaneswar.
It is noteworthy that Archana Nag was apprehended on October 6 of the previous year, following an FIR lodged at Nayapalli police station by film producer Akshay Parija. Allegedly, she had demanded ransom from Parija and had reportedly threatened to publicly disclose photographs and videos depicting his private moments with a co-accused individual. This threat was allegedly made when Parija did not comply with the ransom demand.
Archana Nag is at the center of a money laundering case linked to an alleged sextortion racket operating in and around the city of Bhubaneswar. As the prime accused in this case, her legal situation remains complex and intricate, with multiple cases unfolding concurrently.
