Bhubaneswar, October 06: Odisha Revenue Minister, Maheswar Mohanty has questioned the need of a queue system at Puri Jagannath Temple which has triggered outrage and violent protests.

“While other temples are located in narrow places, Puri Srimandir has huge open space. While other temples have one deity, Puri Srimandir has multiple deities. To visit all these deities, there has to be some flexibility,” Mohanty said.

“To visit Lord Jagannath, one needs to go left while to view Lord Balaram, one needs to go right. Devi Subhadra can be viewed at the center. So, what is the requirement of a queue system?” Mohanty questioned.

“Discussion should be held and the issue should be resolved. But decisions should not be taken in a hurry,” he said.

Mohanty further added that “If it is required to inform the Supreme Court, we would even request Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to do so.”
