Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday conducted raids at the residence and other places belonging to Janmajeya Mallick, Sub-Inspector of Police Motor Transport department in Odisha on charges of acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous searches at five different places including his ancestral house and in-law’s residence in Pattamundai area of Kendrapara distrct, his other houses, official quarters and office chambers in the city here.
The anticorruption officials seized 240 gram of gold jewellery, Rs 23000 in cash, a bike worth Rs 91000, a bus bearing Regd No: OD 05 c 1201, bank passbooks, land records and other important documents during the raid at his ancestral house in Andara village in Pattamundai area, when last reports came in.
The exact amount of disproportionate wealth acquired by Mallick would be declared later as the raids were still on, an official said.
