Marking India’s 79th Independence Day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hoisted the National Flag at Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, reaffirming Odisha’s commitment to the ideals of freedom, progress, and inclusive governance.
In his stirring address, the Chief Minister outlined his government’s transformational agenda, emphasising employment generation, women’s empowerment, education, technology, and law and order. Majhi’s speech reflected the new energy of Odisha’s double-engine government, driven by the principles of “Seva, Sankalp, and Sushasan” — Service, Resolve, and Good Governance.
Employment & Youth Empowerment: Building an Aspirational Odisha
In a landmark announcement, CM Majhi declared that the government has sought approval to fill 22,896 additional vacancies, taking the total number of new government jobs to nearly 85,000 — exceeding the original target of 65,000.
He further launched the Agniveer Prasikhyana Yojana, a specialised training programme designed to prepare Odia youth for recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces under the Agnipath scheme. The initiative reflects Odisha’s growing contribution to national defence and youth skill development.
“Our youth are the strength of this nation. We will empower every young man and woman of Odisha with opportunities to serve, innovate, and lead,” Majhi asserted.
Industrial & Technological Revolution: Odisha Joins India’s Semiconductor Map
In one of the most significant industrial announcements, the Chief Minister revealed that the Central Government has approved the establishment of two semiconductor manufacturing units in Odisha — a monumental leap for the state’s technology sector.
These projects, expected to generate thousands of skilled jobs, will position Odisha as a hub in India’s semiconductor and electronics mission, driving a new industrial revolution in the eastern corridor.
Majhi also announced a Pharma Conclave, aimed at attracting national and global investors to revitalise the pharmaceutical industry, with the potential to create over 2.5 lakh jobs and make Odisha a key player in India’s healthcare and biotech ecosystem.
Women’s Empowerment: The Subhadra Yojana & Lakhpati Didis
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to women’s dignity and financial independence, CM Majhi celebrated the success of the Subhadra Yojana, under which over 1 crore women have received direct financial benefits.
He also highlighted the creation of 17 lakh “Lakhpati Didis” — women who have achieved economic self-reliance through entrepreneurship, skill development, and self-help group initiatives.
“A prosperous Odisha is impossible without empowered women. Every Subhadra Yojana beneficiary is a symbol of our state’s progress,” he said.
Law, Order & Social Harmony: A Zero-Tolerance Government
CM Majhi took a firm stand against organised crime, drug trade, and social disorder, reiterating that his government will maintain zero tolerance for corruption and criminal activities.
He announced that all schools, colleges, and universities will soon be declared “Drug-Free Campuses”, with coordinated enforcement by education and home departments to protect the state’s youth.
“We are building not just smart cities but safe communities,” Majhi said, drawing loud applause from the crowd gathered at Gandhi Marg.
Education & Health: A Smarter, Healthier Generation
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s focus on strengthening education and health infrastructure through flagship national and state-level programmes such as:
- PM USHA (Upgradation of Schools for Holistic Advancement)
- NIPUN Odisha for foundational literacy and numeracy
- PM SHRI Model Schools initiative
Majhi also announced 11.25 percent reservation for EWS and OBC students in higher educational institutions, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all sections of society.
On the health front, the government continues to expand access to affordable care, rural medical facilities, and wellness centres, reinforcing Odisha’s progress towards “Healthy Odisha, Prosperous Odisha.”
The Majhi Model: People-Centric Governance and Vision 2047
CM Majhi’s address symbolised more than a ceremonial Independence Day speech — it was a policy blueprint reflecting the Majhi Model of Governance, characterised by discipline, delivery, and decentralisation.
His administration, in just over 400 days, has demonstrated that efficient governance and empathy can go hand-in-hand — from flood management and disaster response to industrial revival and social reform.
“Odisha’s tricolour stands taller today because of the strength of its people. Our mission is to build a state where every citizen feels proud, secure, and hopeful,” Majhi concluded, drawing a standing ovation.
Conclusion: A New Dawn for Odisha
As the tricolour fluttered over Bhubaneswar’s Gandhi Marg, the moment reflected a state in transition — from aspiration to achievement.
Under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, Odisha is not only honouring its glorious past but also charting a visionary path toward industrial transformation, youth empowerment, and social equity — firmly establishing itself as the growth engine of Eastern India.
