AMLAN (Anaemia Mukta Lakhya Abhiyan), a multi-pronged initiative for accelerating the decrease of anaemia among targeted categories, was introduced by disha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister announced the program’s launch on a virtual platform and described it as the state’s initiative to eradicate anaemia, particularly among women and children.
Several departments, including Health & Family Welfare, School & Mass Education, Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and ST & SC Development, will carry out the program.
According to him, 1.37 crore people—including pregnant women, nursing moms, women in the reproductive age range, teenagers, and children—will benefit from the initiative.
Patnaik added that the main programme measures include enhancing iron and folic acid supplementation, checking for haemoglobin, treating anaemic patients, boosting service providers’ capacity, and communicating about changing societal behaviour.
According to him, this programme will be implemented in 74,000 Anganwadi Centers and 55,000 government- and government-aided schools throughout the state.
“All our endeavours are focussed on the principle that every life is precious. The state government has prioritised development of the health sector in our state,” said CM.
Odisha has improved in numerous health indices, including immunisation, infant mortality rate, maternal mortality ratio, newborn and young child feeding practises, and undernutrition, as a result of a strong focus on public health initiatives.
However, he continued, anaemia continues to be a significant problem for national public health.
To achieve Anaemia Mukta Odisha, the Chief Minister asked the relevant departments and on-the-ground service providers to collaborate effectively in order to implement the AMLAN.
