Sundargarh,Dec. 18: Several migrant labourers of Odisha’s Sundargarh district were allegedly assaulted by their employer in Vizianagaram of Andhra Pradesh after they sought their wages. The torture crossed all limits after the employer splashed acid on one of them and chopped off another’s finger.
According to reports, 12 labourers hailing from Hemagiri in the district were working at a brick kiln in Vizianagaram. The brick kiln owner used to thrash them on asking for their wages.
Recently, the accused threw acid on one of the labourers and cut finger of another as they demanded their payment.
Though five of them, including the acid attack victim, managed to escape the place and reach Sundargarh, seven are still held captive by the kiln owner.
The two victims have been hospitalised for treatment.
