Bhubaneswar,Nov.13 : The Sports &Youth Services Department of Odisha government on Monday signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with seven leading industrialists High Performance Centre with an aim to strengthen its sporting prowess and capability of the sportspersons across the country.
The agreements were signed in a special event named ‘Sports in Odisha,’ which was organized at the Kalinga Stadium here this evening.
The following sports were sponsored by the following industries that have their own Foundation for Youth Sports:
Athletics by Reliance Industries Group; Football and Swimming by JSW Group; Badminton by Dalmia Bharat Group; Weightlifting by Ahluwalia Group; Shooting by Aditya Birla Group; and Hockey by Tata Group.
“The signing of this MOU has created a long-lasting partnership which will result in producing sportspersons of world standards. But this partnership is more than just giving grants and funds; it will focus on extending the outreach of every sport in India,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his reaction.
Besides, the signing of the MOUs, the conference also saw the unveiling of the Trophy of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018. The Odisha CM and FIH President Narinder Batra unveiled the trophy.
Chandra Sarathi Behera, Minister of Sports & Youth Services Odisha, Dalmia Bharat Group CMD Puneet Dalmia, Pullela Gopichand, PGBF, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman JSW, Gagan Narang, GNSPF, Anil Kumble, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, DSYS and Director-cum-Additional Secretary, DSYS were among many others who were present on the occasion.
