Due to the recent relentless rains that have pounded the State and flooded several low-lying areas, normal life was disrupted in a number of different locations around Odisha. Odisha was devastated by torrential rain, which destroyed homes and destroyed road infrastructure.
Following yet another day of intense rain in the Gajapati district, the walls of five homes in Kujasingh gramme panchayat under Gumma block collapsed on Sunday. As a result, the gramme panchayat office now houses the members of these five families.
In the meantime, eight districts in the State are expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, according to the India Meteorological Department. According to IMD, isolated areas throughout the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, and Boudh are very likely to see heavy to very severe rainfall (7 to 20 cm).
Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow alert to a number of areas. IMD said that isolated areas in the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Deogarh, Puri, Khurda, and Cuttack were likely to see heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm).
