Are you thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle? Here’s some good news for Odisha residents. The Odisha government has announced a 15% subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles.
The subsidy for two-wheelers will be 15% of the cost, up to a maximum of Rs 5,000. It stated that the cap on 15% subsidy for three-wheelers is Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000 for four-wheelers. The decision was made based on Niti Aayog’s recommendations and in accordance with the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, according to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department on January 31.
The subsidy will be in effect beginning September 1, 2021, and the amount will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the RTO where the vehicle is registered. The programme will be in effect until December 31, 2025.
A dedicated portal will be established to monitor information relating to sales, credit of purchase incentives, and loan subsidies. The government announced in October of last year that all categories of electric vehicles would be exempt from registration fees and motor vehicle taxes.
