Gross goods and services tax (GST) revenues in Odisha reached an all-time high of Rs 5,035.74 crore in April of this year, according to officials. The state had received GST of Rs 4,910 crore over the same time frame the previous year.
The receipts for the Odisha GST and Integrated GST settlement increased by 40.43% in April 2023 to Rs 2,359.17 crore from Rs 1,680 crore in April of the previous year. The expansion of the commercial and service sectors was blamed for the increase in collection.
When compared to April of last year, the total revenue from non-GST products like alcohol and petroleum products was Rs 264.42 crore, up from Rs 232.92 crore. In comparison to April of last year, when all Acts were being monitored by the commissionerate of commercial tax & GST in the state, collections increased by 36.70% to Rs 2,661.92 crore.
Additionally, 20.23 lakh waybills were produced in April 2023 as opposed to 17.57 lakh in April 2022. According to the finance department, this indicates the economic sector’s strength and equates to an increase of 15.12%.
