In a groundbreaking development, the Odisha government has successfully attracted investment proposals amounting to a substantial INR 4,940 crore for wind energy projects. This remarkable announcement took center stage during the ‘Odisha Wind Energy Summit Investor Round Table,’ a prestigious event held in the vibrant city of Bhubaneswar.
GRIDCO, a prominent state government undertaking and the designated agency for renewable energy development, joined forces with iFOREST to organize this pivotal event. The primary objective was to explore investment opportunities within the burgeoning wind power sector.
As part of the event, prospective investors engaged in one-on-one meetings with senior government officials and representatives from GRIDCO. The outcome was nothing short of extraordinary, with investment commitments pouring in for a whopping 575 MW of wind energy capacity. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 key investors hailing from various corners of the country, fostering invaluable collaboration among stakeholders in wind power production and manufacturing.
The Chief Secretary of Odisha, PK Jena, reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to supporting the wind industry, reaffirming its dedication to sustainable energy solutions. Finance and Energy Secretary, VK Dev, expressed optimism about the summit’s pivotal role in advancing Odisha’s wind energy sector goals.
Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, the Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, commended the state for its proactive initiatives, lauding Odisha’s commitment to renewable energy. The National Institute of Renewable Energy (NIWE) pledged unwavering support for harnessing wind power in Odisha. The event also witnessed the presence of senior officials from CPSEs (Central Public Sector Enterprises) and key private players in the wind energy sector, reinforcing the collaborative spirit at the summit.
