The Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, has taken a significant step towards promoting industrial development in the state. On Monday, the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary PK Jena, approved 11 industrial projects with a combined worth of Rs 3,266 crore. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 9,146 individuals.
The approved projects span various sectors, including metal downstream and ancillary, chemicals, food processing, agro processing, plastics, textiles apparel, IT & ESDM, and renewable energy. They will be established in districts such as Balasore, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Khurda, and Jajpur.
While Odisha has long been recognized for its prowess in the mining and metallurgy sector, the state has made significant efforts to diversify its industrial ecosystem in recent years. Notably, Nestle India Limited, a leading multinational company in the food processing sector, will be setting up a food processing unit with an investment exceeding Rs 890 crore. This venture is expected to generate employment for more than 800 individuals.
In the textiles and apparels sector, Colortone Garments Private Limited, a subsidiary of First Step Baby-Wear and the second-largest baby-wear manufacturer in India, will establish an integrated apparel manufacturing facility and a 1.2 MW rooftop captive solar power plant. This project, valued at over Rs 200 crore, is anticipated to provide jobs for over 4,820 people.
Additionally, Himadri Specialty Chemical Limited, a renowned name in the chemicals sector, has received approval to establish its first chemical manufacturing unit in Odisha. With an investment of over Rs 980 crore, this venture is projected to employ over 1,400 individuals.
Odisha is also emerging as a key investment destination in the plastics sector, with three noteworthy projects gaining approval. IDVB Recycling Operations Private Limited will establish a new unit for recycled PET flakes and resin products, creating an annual capacity of 63,000 MT and employing over 240 people. While Odisha already leads in the production of steel, stainless steel, alumina, and aluminum, the state is now making its presence felt in the metal downstream and ancillary sector. Two projects in this field were also approved by the SLSWCA. Beekay Utkal Steel Private Limited and IFGL Refractories Limited are set to invest over Rs 260 crore, creating employment for more than 350 individuals. IFGL Refractories Limited, a prominent refractory manufacturer in the country, will establish its second unit in Odisha, while Beekay Utkal Steel Private Limited, a leading metal downstream company, will set up its third unit.
Furthermore, the committee granted approval to Nisum Consulting Private Limited, which plans to invest Rs 200 crore in setting up a software development center facility in the IT & ESDM sector. This project is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 640 people in Odisha.
These industrial projects signify the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and job creation in Odisha. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, the state is attracting significant investments across multiple sectors, which will contribute to its overall development and prosperity.
