The Council’s meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has reportedly approved a Supplementary Budget of Rs 8,300 crore for the year 2019-20.
The draft proposal was presented by finance minister Niranjan Pujari at a Council of Ministers meeting held here at Lok Seva Bhavan. The finance minister informed his cabinet colleagues about the circumstances leading to the preparation of the supplementary budget. The outlay for the supplementary budget is nearly Rs 8,300 cr.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has advised his Cabinet colleagues to ensure that the people should get the benefit of expenditure incurred through the supplementary budget.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the government had presented the budget last June with an outlay of Rs one lakh and thirty-nine thousand crores. The outlay was more than fifteen percent of the budget of 2018-19.
It was revealed in the Cabinet meet that the supplementary budget has been presented to meet the expenditures relating to some new announcements by the government. This will be presented on the first day of the winter session of the Odisha Assembly.
The Cabinet meet was also informed that Rs 3000 crore will be spent on the development of Puri.
