Bhubaneswar: A day before laying of foundation stone for three National Highway (NH) projects in Odisha by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wrote to Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari urging the latter for improvement of NHs in Mayurbhanj district.
“Jharpokharia-Keonjhar-Sambalpur NH-49 passing through Mayurbhanj district is not in a traffic-worthy condition. Further, Hatgamharia-Benisagar up to junction with NH-49 near Singada passing through Mayurbhanj district has been declared in principle as an NH from February 17, 2016 but no improvement work has yet been started,” the CM wrote in the letter.
Patnaik also requested Gadkari to consider declaration of the following roads passing through Mayurbhanj district as NHs:
i. Bhadrak-Anandpur-Thakurmunda-Karanjia-Singada– 135 km.
ii. Shergarh-Nilgiri-Kaptipada-Baripada-WB Border– 110 km.
iii. Rairangpur-Bisoi-Bangiriposi-Kalabadia– 54 km.
iv. Jashipur-Champua– 70 km.
