Sushil Sahu and Siddhi Samriddhi of the Ganjam district received the Suraj Award for 2022 from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
The 2019 Suraj Award was launched by the Odisha government as a way to encourage organ donation.
The father of Siddhi and the wife of Sushil each received a check for Rs. 5 lakh from Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha.
After Suraj, a resident of the Ganjam area, was diagnosed with brain death on November 2, 2019, his parents made the decision to donate his organs in order to save the lives of others. In order to save six lives, his heart, liver, two kidneys, and both eyes were transplanted.
According to the VM, organ donation gives many families hope. The greatest virtue is saving another person’s life. It takes bravery and courage to donate an organ. He claimed that the sacrifice made by an organ-donor family is unmatched.
