Odisha, under the leadership of our visionary Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has emerged as one of the top 5 States in the country with the most significant reduction in poverty. This remarkable achievement is attributed to the effective implementation of pro-people policies and welfare programs.
According to the National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) report released by NITI Aayog, Odisha has witnessed a significant decline in its headcount ratio from 29.34% in 2015-16 to an impressive 15.68% in 2019-21.
Sharing this proud moment on Twitter, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his delight in the state’s progress. He highlighted that in rural regions, the Multidimensional Poverty Index value decreased from 32.64% in 2015-16 to 17.72% in 2019-21, while in urban areas, it decreased from 12.32% to 5.42%. These improvements have been attributed to advancements in the standard of living, healthcare, and education, all contributing factors to the reduction in MPI values.
Under the leadership and guidance of Naveen Patnaik, Odisha has achieved significant milestones in its mission to uplift the living conditions of its people and create a more prosperous and inclusive society. The efficient execution of welfare programs and pro-people policies has played a pivotal role in this transformative journey.
