Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared Rs 1000 as Covid-19 assistance to all eligible families under PDS. Between April 1-7, only 19.7 % of total eligible NFSA families received the assistance.

Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of Govt. of Odisha on COVID-19, Shri Vir Vikram Yadav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department and Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Information & Public Relations Department briefed the Press about steps taken by Government of Odisha for prevention of COVID-19.

 Chief Secretary Sri Asit Tripathy and Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri V. K. Pandian have paid a visit to Kendrapara, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts to oversee the COVID-19 Hospital arrangements there. They interacted with concerned Collectors and other officers of different Departments.
 Keeping in view COVID-19 situation, 3.3 crore beneficiaries covered under Food Security Schemes have been provided 5.65 Lakh MT rice and wheat in advance for the month of April, May and June.
 As per direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister, 18,47,505 families have been given Rs. 184.75 crore @ Rs 1000/- per family. In this process 36,020 new beneficiaries have been included.
 31,90,352 families have been provided PDS through 12,356 Fair Price Shops in the State under Public Distribution System.
 Social distancing guidelines are being strictly adhered during supply of PDS. PwDs and elder citizens are being given PDS at their doorsteps. Shops are regularly being monitored to check price. Distribution and supply of LPG is normal and fuel outlets are functioning normally.
 Food and accommodation have been ensured through 1948 camps for around 65,000 ‘Guest Workers’. These workers are from various states of the country. Any complaint received through Shramik Sahayata Call Centre-18003456703 is being addressed promptly.
 Today, 3,27,955 destitute and helpless persons have been provided with food in 5264 Gram Panchayats. Similarly, in 113 ULBs 27,688 persons have been provided with food.
 Farming operations by farmers and farm workers in the field are allowed for ongoing Rabi and preparatory activities for coming Kharif season. Harvesting of Agricultural produce including fruits and vegetables is to continue with labour engagement while maintaining social distancing. Marketing and transportation of agricultural inputs, agricultural and Horticultural products to markets both intra and interstate are permitted without any restrictions by retailers and transporters. Seeds, Fertilizers, and pesticide outlets, seed processing units in both Govt and Private sector may be operated, without restrictions. Agro machinery movement/ custom hiring centres and operation need are allowed all agricultural operations.
 To engage 5-18 age group children and students in creative activities and to develop their inherent talent, ‘Mo Prativa’ online competition was on 2nd April and till now 5444 no. of children and students have participated in various competitions. Entries are received from different categories include the students, inmates of Child Care Institutions and tribal children.
 From 7th April morning to 8th April morning, 269 no of cases have been registered by the Police in the state for violations of different regulations and guidelines related to COVID-19 of which 252 no. of cases for violation of lock down, 4 cases for violation of ‘Home Quarantine’ 3 cases for rumour mongering and 10 for other issues. 300 persons have been arrested for different violations by the Police.
 Till date 55 cases have been registered in the state for rumour mongering.

Health Update
 Up to 12 noon today, 2441 samples have been tested. Number of Positive Cases stands 42. Two persons have already been cured and discharged from Hospital.
 No. of Death case 1.
 No of active cases are 39.
 Out of 42 positive cases, 34 from Bhubaneswar, 3 from Bhadrak and one each from Cuttack, Puri, Kalahandi, Jajpur and Kendrapara.
 91 persons are under Hospital Isolation today in different hospitals.
