On Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that cooperatives were now giving farmers the greatest credit support rate in the nation—60%. The chief minister joined a virtual orientation session for 184 officers of the cooperation department and said that this is a remarkable change from the 1950s, when cooperatives only offered farmers a 3% credit support. He urged the new hires to abide by the state government’s 5T values.
The CM hoped the new officials would bring competence, commitment, and efficiency to the co-op societies in order to breathe new life into the industry. He congratulated the new officers and stated that he anticipated the new inspectors and auditors to improve the cooperatives’ monitoring and oversight mechanisms in order to expedite service delivery to the public. According to him, the cooperative economic model has been recognised for its excellent contribution to the growth of the state. According to Cooperation Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, the department of Cooperation serves as a link between other departments. The change of the state from one with a food deficit to one with a surplus of food is largely due to the cooperation department.
