Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, authorised the proposal for the opening of 36 additional police stations in the State on Saturday, taking into account the state’s expanding population as well as administrative needs. He has given the order to hasten the process of setting up these Thanas as soon as possible.
The upcoming police stations are Bagedia and Gopalprasad in Angul, Anantapur and Gopalpur in Balasore, Bargarh Rural in Bargarh, Nimakhandi in Berhampur, Laxmijore and Agalpur in Balangir, Ghantapada in Boudh, Maitri Vihar in Bhubaneswar Commissionerate, Maniabandha in Cuttack Commissionerate, Jodum and Bhadreswar
To create these police stations, current police stations will be divided, and police outposts will be upgraded.
In order to staff these police stations, 563 posts in various ranks, from Inspector to Constable, have been created.
The CM believed that with the opening of these new Police Stations, the police force would grow and be able to serve the public with more efficiency.
