The Cabinet Appointments Committee has accepted the nomination of Rajesh Verma, a senior IAS official, as Secretary to the President of India.
Verma, an Odisha cadre IAS officer from the 1987 batch, is currently serving as the Secretary of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, with additional charge of the Financial Services Secretary.
Draupadi Murmu took the oath of office as India’s 15th President on July 25. Murmu was elected as the 15th President of India after receiving 2824 first preference votes (a total of 6,76,803), while her opponent, Yashwant Sinha, received 1,877 first preference votes (a total of 3,80,177 votes).
