Odisha has been actively promoting tourism as a result of the drop in Covid-19 cases, but the lack of direct flights has created a bottleneck.
The government of Odisha has released a request for proposals (RFP) and invited aviation companies to operate direct flights from Bhubaneswar to destinations like Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok.
The drop in Covid-19 cases has forced Odisha to aggressively promote tourism, but the absence of direct flights has created a bottleneck. All limitations relating to Covid have previously been lifted by the authorities.
The state government of Odisha stated in the request for proposals (RFP) that it “desires to have direct international flights from Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, to foreign soil” and that it “is looking for interested scheduled air service carriers to start its air service commencing with international flights from Bhubaneswar to destinations like Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok on alternate days, including the weekends.”
According to officials, applications must be received by November 28.
