On Saturday, the body of an 18-year-old girl was discovered on a beach in Puri, Odisha.
According to the Free Press Journal, the girl was discovered lying face down in her underwear with severe injuries.
Her family claims that she was raped. “Her face was burned with acid, and her fingers were mutilated,” the victim’s brother told Jagran.
The family complains about police inaction.
The girl, who was from Madhya Pradesh, had come to Puri for a visit and was staying at the Shanti Palace hotel with her parents and brother, according to Jagran.
On November 23, she went outside to retrieve clothes that had been left to dry. Her family began looking for her after she failed to return.
According to the victim’s father, the family received no assistance from the Odisha Police, Madhya Pradesh Police, or the state government.
“We don’t want anything from the government, but only want justice for my daughter. I want the strictest punishment for those who did this to my daughter so that her soul rests in peace,” he told to the media.
Meanwhile, locals in Bhopal demonstrated for justice for the victim, according to Jagran.
