Odisha Agriculture, Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Minister Shri.Pradeep Maharathy inaugurated the online shopping platform of OPLOFED, “www.chickenfresh.in”and formally launched the Facebook Business page of OPOLFED “www.facebook.com/” opolfed to-day in a function held in the 2nd floor conference hall of Secretariat. This is an effort to provide the consumers of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation area to purchase OPOLFED poultry and poultry products through online.
The use of social media well help to promote OPOLFED poultry products and create awareness among the consumers. The on-line sale of OPOLFED chicken fresh products and use of Facebook business page are milestones in the history of OPOLFED, Sri Maharathy expressed. He also added that although initially it will sell its products within the municipal corporation area of Bhubaneswar, it can extend the facility to other areas after looking at the response. Today its Facebook page has more than 5500 likes and I hope more and more people will visit page in the coming days and will connect with OPOLFED.
Shri Bishnupada Sethi, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Fisheries & ARD, Govt. of Odisha said that OPOLFED symbolizes quality and hygiene. It is a trusted name in Odisha. The online shopping platform will provide the residents of Bhubaneswar(who cannot visit the OPOLFED CHICKEN FRESH outlet) to place online and get delivery at home, he said. Smt. Sushama Panda, Chairperson, OPOLFED was present.
Later, Sri Maharathy purchased chicken online to be delivered in his residential address. It may be mentioned here that, Odisha State Poultry Products Co-operation Marketing federation Ltd., widely known as OPOLFED is a state level apex cooperative marketing organisation. OPOLFED was registered as a society on 29.03.1976 and declared as an Apex Co-operative Federation on 22.03.1984. OPOLFED operates in two-tire system, i.e.
Primary Poultry Co-operative Society (PPCS)/Women Poultry Co-operative Society (WPCS) at grass-root level and the Federation at the apex level. Aims & Objectives of OPOLFED are to encourage and help in establishing Poultry Co-operatives in the State, to help and market poultry products of the members and others, to arrange sale of poultry products on contract basis to Government, Semi-Government organizations, individual dealers, whole-sellers, retailers within and outside the State after necessary processing, grading etc., to establish sale centers within and outside the State for promoting sale of poultry products, to arrange sale of balanced poultry feed and other ingredients to its members and others, to help in prevention and control of poultry diseases, to arrange training of poultry farmers, publication of literature on poultry, arranging workshops, seminars, demonstration, lectures, poultry shows etc., to establish and run manufacturing and processing units for the production of premixed poultry feed in collaboration with other co-operative or directly by itself and to render technical guidance and assistance to affiliated societies in grading, packing and standardization, bulk buying, storing, display, processing and other business techniques and also management methods to improve and increase their operational, managerial efficiency.
