A railway official stated on Saturday that no trains will stop at Bahanaga Bazar station since the CBI, which is looking into the train tragedy in Odisha’s Balasore district, has shut the station and taken the log book, relay panel, and equipment.

At least seven trains, mostly locals, were stopping at Bahanaga Bazar station where a triple train catastrophe occurred on June 2 that killed 288 people and injured 1,208 others. Both the up and down lines had been restored by this point.

Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, the chief of public relations for South Eastern Railway, told reporters that the CBI has sealed the station after taking possession of the log book, relay panel, and other items.

No passenger or freight train would halt at Bahanaga Bazar till further notice, Choudhary told reporters. “The relay interlocking panel has been sealed limiting access of the crew to the signalling system.”

Only passenger trains, such as the Bhadrak-Balasore MEMU, Howrah Bhadrak Baghajatin Fast Passenger, and Kharagpur Khurda road Fast Passenger, used to halt at the station for a minute despite the fact that over 170 trains pass through the Bahanaga Bazar Railway station each day.

According to him, the railways have already given ex-gratia to 709 passengers out of the 1,208 injured people.
