Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has ordered the establishment of a fast-track court for the trial.

He has pledged to provide the victim’s family with all necessary help.

MERCY PLEA REJECTED

The Delhi government has recommended rejecting a mercy petition filed by one of the convicts in the 2012 gang rape case.

Asha Devi said she welcomed the decision, and that she hoped the accused would be hanged soon.

Her daughter, a paramedic student, was raped by six people on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012, inside a moving bus in south Delhi. She was severely assaulted before being thrown out on the road.

She died on December 29, 2012, at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore, where she had been airlifted from Delhi for treatment.
