In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial landscape and Eastern India’s manufacturing prowess, Nestlé India Ltd has broken ground on its first factory in Eastern India — a state-of-the-art facility coming up in Khordha district, Odisha. With an initial investment of ₹900 crore, this marks a pivotal milestone in Nestlé India’s growth strategy and the Narendra Modi-led Central Government’s “Make in India” mission.

The momentous ceremony was led by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, whose proactive governance and industry-friendly policies have turned Odisha into one of India’s most attractive investment destinations under the BJP regime.

“This is not just an industrial project — it’s a turning point for Eastern India. Odisha is open for business, and global brands like Nestlé are taking notice,” CM Mohan Majhi said during the groundbreaking. “We welcome Nestlé to Odisha’s vibrant growth story and assure full state support throughout their journey.”

Odisha on the Global Manufacturing Map

Nestlé India’s Khordha unit will manufacture key products from its foods portfolio, including prepared dishes and cooking aids, addressing rising demand from India’s growing consumer base. The plant is envisioned as a digitally enabled, paperless, and environmentally responsible facility — with a special emphasis on gender diversity and sustainable manufacturing practices.

“This tenth factory, our first in Eastern India, reaffirms the strategic importance of India in Nestlé’s global operations,” said Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and MD of Nestlé India. “We’re building more than a factory — we’re building a symbol of progressive manufacturing with people, planet and performance at its heart.”

A Testament to BJP’s Industrial Vision

The decision to choose Odisha, a traditionally underserved region in terms of large-scale FMCG manufacturing, speaks volumes about the business-friendly ecosystem fostered by the BJP Government in the state, post the historic electoral shift.

From simplified clearances under the GO SWIFT portal to the active facilitation by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), the Honourable Minsiter Shri Sampad Swain-led Industry Department has played a key role in translating investment interest into on-ground execution.

Economic and Employment Boost for the Region

The Khordha facility is expected to create significant employment opportunities, both direct and indirect, for local youth — in alignment with the BJP’s broader mission of “Viksit Bharat” and inclusive economic development.

Nestlé India’s entry into Odisha will further bolster the state’s food processing and FMCG ecosystem, acting as a catalyst for ancillary industries, logistics, and rural livelihoods.

Odisha is no longer on the sidelines — it is now at the forefront of India’s industrial and economic transformation. With visionary leadership at the helm and investor confidence on the rise, the BJP-led government is scripting a new growth narrative for the state and the nation.
