Today, the Odisha Cabinet approved plans for the implementation of large-scale piped water delivery projects that will serve more than 8.50 lakh people across four districts: Koraput, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, and Angul.
During today’s State Cabinet meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Panchayatiraj & Drinking Water Department’s plans received approval.
Under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) financing, the massive piped water supply projects will be carried out to provide clean drinking water for a total of 8,49,531 people in 1,395 villages within 10 blocks in four districts.
By the time the projects are finished, approximately 1,61,902 people from 167 villages will be served by 31 Gram Panchayats in two blocks in the Koraput district, 35,404 people from 129 villages will be served by 15 GPs in two blocks in the Rayagada district, 4,32,916 people from 544 villages will be served by 85 GPs in four blocks in the Jagatsinghpur district, and 2,19,309 people from 555 villages will be served by
The state cabinet has approved the tender of Hyderabad-based NCC Limited for the implementation of the massive piped water delivery project in the districts of Koraput and Angul, totaling Rs 261.97 crore (Rs 261,97,41,050) and Rs 356.68 crore (Rs 356,68,26,271).
Similar to this, the projects in the Rayagada and Jagatsinghpur districts will be completed by Standard Infratech India Pvt Ltd in joint ventures with Surya International Enterprise Pvt Ltd of Hyderabad and Larsen & Toubro of Chennai, respectively, at costs of Rs 114.68 crore and Rs 431.10 crore (Rs 431,10,90,502) each. The projects will be finished in a 24-month period.
