Residents of Silk City can rejoice because Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik on Wednesday officially opened nine out of Brahmapur’s 25 zones to 24-7 tap water as part of the State Government’s “Drink from Tap Program.”

The work in nine zones has reportedly been finished at a cost of Rs 8 crore out of a total expected cost of Rs 36 crore.

According to Er Biswabandhu Panigrahi, general manager of WATCO’s Brahmapur Division, the 16 remaining zones are expected to have 24-hour access to drinking water by June 2023. Notably, he continued, the current action will help over 1.5 lakh consumers.

The Gopalpur NAC town’s system, which was finished at a cost of Rs 5 crore and benefits 11,000 people, was also dedicated by the Chief Minister.

According to WATCO sources, the Gopalpur NAC town is the second such town in the entire nation to acquire a 24-hour drink from tap facility after Puri. Additionally, Pattnaik lay the cornerstone for the development of the Hinjilikatu Municipal Town, which would cost Rs 62 crore and be finished by 2024, and will provide residents with 24-hour access to drinking water. Notably, Hinjili is where Chief Minister Patnaik is from.
