A roundtable discussion on potential for cooperation between Japan and Odisha in sports and tourism is hosted by CM in Kyoto.

The chief minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, urged Japanese tour operators in Kyoto on Saturday to visit Odisha by showcasing the state’s tourist potential and emphasising its rich Buddhist heritage.

In Kyoto, Japan, Naveen organised a roundtable discussion with a focus on possibilities for cooperation between Japan and Odisha in the fields of tourism and sports.

“The conversation was attended by major tour operators and hospitality sector officials from Japan, as well as involvement from several Japanese sports organisations and sports sector representatives,” according to a press release published by the chief minister’s office.

“During the discussion, Naveen underlined Odisha’s enormous potential as a tourist destination, with a particular emphasis on exploiting Odisha’s rich Buddhist legacy, particularly the heritage sites in Dhauli, Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri, and Udayagiri,” according to the announcement.

According to a press statement from the chief minister’s office, “the conversation was attended by major tour operators and members of the hospitality sector from Japan as well as involvement from several Japanese sports associations and representatives from the sports sector.”

According to a press release, “Naveen highlighted the enormous potential of Odisha as a tourist destination throughout the debate, with a particular emphasis on harnessing Odisha’s rich Buddhist legacy, notably the heritage sites in Dhauli, Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri, and Udayagiri.”

During the event, the government of Odisha and Arcelor-Mittal Nippon Steel signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a cutting-edge gymnastics centre in Odisha and for cooperation between AM/NS and the government of Odisha to further promote sports in the state.
