On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, Shri Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha and president of the BJD, officially opened the Sankha Bhavan, the party’s headquarter, in the Unit-6 neighbourhood of the state capital.
The BJD’s electoral emblem is a conch.
The chief minister said that Sankha Bhawan will serve as a meeting place for all those working to develop the state, uphold its honour, and create a new, powerful Odisha. He dedicated the structure to its 4.5 crore residents.
“This will unite 4.5 crore people of the state. All the programmes of Shankha Bhawan will be dedicated to people of Odisha and aimed at protecting the interest of the state.” CM Stated.
He added that the founding of the BJD in 1997, which was done in accordance with the illustrious Biju Patnaik’s beliefs, signalled the beginning of a new era in Odisha politics. He noted that the party, which supported the citizens of Odisha, had evolved into a social movement.
According to Naveen, Shankha Bhavan will serve as a hub for spiritual development based on Jagannath tradition as well as social, economic, cultural, and political advancement.
It will keep spreading the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam message and Jagannath culture over the world.
He attributed BJD’s success to consistency and peaceful disposition. “Righteousness has led to joy and peace to prosperity ,” CM Stated, spelling out the success mantra of the party.
With Naveen as one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers (CMs), the BJD has held power in Odisha for almost for 25 years.

The building’s first level has a conference room that can hold 2000 people, a big auditorium with 250 seats, and a canteen. Moreover, there is a press conference room with space for media representatives.
The halls have been named after stalwarts like Utkalamani Gopabandhu, Utkalagouraba Madhusudhan Das, 5th-century poet and scholar of Odia literature Sarala Das, Veer Surendra Sai, Buxi Jagabandhu, Bhima Bhoi, Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja, Gajapati Maharaja Krushna Chandra Dev, Saheed Laxman Naik, Pandit Raghunath Murmu, Rama Devi and Baji Rout, among others.
Together with notable artefacts from the state’s 30 districts, the edifice also houses Mahatma Gandhi’s talisman.
The top echelons of the party will have their own offices on the second floor of the building. This has led to the construction of thirty rooms. On this floor, the IT Cell will also function.
Naveen Patnaik, the party’s president, will work from a third-floor office.
According to accounts, Shankha Bhawan features a sizable parking area beneath the basement on which the three-story building was built.
