Dinesh Kumar of Odisha won two gold medals in cycling at the 36th National Games on Monday.
Dinesh outperformed the competition in the men’s Individual Pursuit competition. Odisha won the Team Pursuit competition, giving him his second gold.
By winning the silver medal in the Omnium Race competition, Swasti Singh increased Odisha’s medal total from the cycling velodrome.
Odisha athletes have experience in other sports as well.
Shriyanka Sadangi, a top shooter from the state, won silver in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position.
On Monday, Odisha won two bronze medals and one silver in the sport of rowing.
Subhashree Biswal, Sonali Swain, Ritu Kaudi, Deepika Xess, Sanjukta Dungdung, Reshma Lakra, Manisha Kispotta, Jharna Hasti, and Ashmita Karketta were in the Women’s 8 team, which won the silver.
In the women’s double sculls, Anshika Bharti and Sonalika Das won bronze, and in the fours, Anshika, Sonalika, Arunpreet Kaur, and Richael Lakra placed third.
