Kendrapara: Mysterious animal fear loomed large again in Mangalpur village under Derabish block in the district on Thursday after more sheep were found dead at a resident’s house.
The incident came to light after one Birabar Bhuyan of Bhuayansahi in the village went on an inspection of his cattle shed located at the backyard this morning. He found at least six sheep lying in a pool of blood with multiple injury marks all over their bodies pointing at wild animal attack.
Taking into account the fact that, the modus operandi of the predator remained similar to that of the wild animal which struck Niali area last year, with stomachs of the sheep torn wide open and livers gouged out, the villagers suspect it to be a case of mysterious animal attack. They called up forest officials immediately and reported the matter.
While tension prevails in the village following the incident no veterinary team has reached the village so far.
Notably, at least eight sheep were found dead under similar circumstances in Birabar’s cattle shed on August 28 also.
