The government of Odisha has already made the decision to monitor foreigners who return home as part of its efforts to stem the development of the problem.
In light of news that the monkeypox virus has been found in some other Indian states, the Odisha government is preparing to conduct a high-level conference on Saturday to plan tactics to prevent any potential spread of the disease in the State.
At 4 o’clock today, the high-level meeting will be presided over by Health Minister Naba Das. There will also be top state health officials present, including Health Secretary Nikunja Dhal, Health Director Bijay Mohapatra, Public Health Chief Niranjan Mishra, Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi, and DMET chief.
Since there are no restrictions on international travel, the health department has not excluded the possibility of monkeypox even though there have been no reports of any cases in the State thus far.

The SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has been designated by the government as the nodal centre for the care of monkeypox. Four ICU beds have been reserved and a separate isolation ward is available for patients and suspects.
To treat the patients, a group of doctors from several departments has been assembled.
In addition, CDMOs, municipal commissioners, and superintendents of medical colleges and hospitals have been encouraged to focus on ongoing monitoring and prompt treatment while also taking action to isolate suspects and patients following detection.
