Bhubaneswar,23 May 2019: Despite several visits of PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah to Odisha, BJD maintained its past glory in polls 2019. Yes, Naveen Patnaik will again be crowned as the chief minister of Odisha.
When it comes to Lok Sabha constituencies so far BJD is leading in 12 seats while BJP is leading in 9 seats. And in the Assembly segments, BJD is running much ahead of all of its competitors. At present BJD is leading in 109 seats while the saffron party is leading in 23 seats, keeping it in the second position. And the Congress party is far behind in the fight, now leading in 12 seats. Fearing the loss of seats in the Hindi speaking states this time PM Modi and other heavyweight leaders of BJP had targeted Odisha and West Bengal. Even Modi came up with the ‘double engine’ slogan where he asked voters of Odisha to support BJP both in the Lok Sabha election and Assembly election.
However, Navin Patnaik’s popular schemes became instrumental to keep his popularity intact among people. As a result, the craze for the name ‘Naveen Patnaik’ reigned across the state finally bringing a landslide victory for Biju Janata Dal. The wave was so strong that the same strongly forbade ‘Modi Hawa’ to flow in the state.
