Puri: Holding Odisha Government responsible for mismanagement that led to the disappearance of the key of Puri Srimandir Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove), the BJP today announced that it will launch State-wide protests from June 11.

BJP president Basant Panda at a presser in Puri today informed that the party will stage demonstrations in all the 30 districts and sub-division and file FIR about the missing key in all police stations across the State.

The saffron party leaders also trained guns on the lackadaisical attitude of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the entire controversy pertaining to Ratna Bhandar.

Senior leaders of BJP alleged that the State government is trying to divert the attention from the core issue by ordering a judicial inquiry.

“The BJD has committed a sin and hurt the sentiments of the people of Odisha. It is not for the first time that such irregularity in the temple management has come to the fore. Be it Brahma Parivartan, Niladri Bije or the recent mismanagement in distribution of Mahaprasad in the temple – all these indicate that the Government is against Jagannath culture,” Panda alleged.

The BJP also alleged that the BJD is trying to save itself from the embarrassment by pointing fingers at Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb on the entire issue.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also sought answers from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the missing key of Ratna Bhandar.

“The judicial commission constituted by the Odisha government is just an attempt to divert the attention of people,” alleged Pradhan.

Responding to such allegations of BJP, government chief whip and senior BJD leader Amar Prasad Satpathy said, “Several issues exist which can be politicised.  Those who want to politicise the Ratna Bhandar matter will not succeed and their plan might boomerang. Lord Jagannath is not confined to one community or group rather he is the lord of the whole world.”

Satpathy further stated, “An inquiry commission has been set up which will probe under what circumstances the Ratna Bhandar was not opened for inspection for so many years.”
