A seven-year-old girl who was reported missing was found dead in a field in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Saturday and it’s suspected that she was raped and strangled, police said.
The police launched a search and found her body was found around 4.30pm in a maize field, about 250 to 300 metres from her home, the SHO said.
“Her body was sent for postmortem and it has been established that she was raped and strangled to death. We have formed a team to nab the accused,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Sharma.
No suspects have been identified so far and the girl’s family has also not named anyone, Dharmaram said. Her body was handed over to her family Saturday evening after the post-mortem examination, he said.
This is the second rape and murder case against registered in Jhalawar in the last five months.
In February, a six-year-girl, who had gone missing from outside her home, was found murdered in an agriculture field. Police had said the victim was raped before being murdered.
