Migrant labourers from Ganjam stranded in Muscat seek help for return

Ganjam.December 12: As many as 17 migrant labourers from Ganjam district who had gone to Muscat, Oman’s port capital, for work have been stranded due to non-payment of salaries and alleged torture by the company.

The plight was brought to the attention through a video, which was uploaded on the social media platform.

According to sources, the labourers had gone to Muscat for work a few months ago. However, after months of work, they were not provided the salary as promised earlier. Unable to come back, the victims have shared a video to their family members.

In the video, the men narrated how they are been tortured by the company and alleged that they are not provided with the salary as promised. They have also urged the district administration and Centre for their safe return.

Apart from the Odias, labourers from Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh are also stranded in the foreign country hoping for help from their native country.
