In a success to police in an encounter police destroyed a mao camp located in Mathili block of Malkangiri last night. A huge amount of arms and ammunition with mao equipments seized.
Reportedly, under the headship of Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena, receiving a tip-off information regarding maoists camp located at Tulasipahad area raid the jungle area. SP Meena headed the operation in the jungle assisted by DVF Force.
Sighting security personnel rushing towards the camp the mao group opened fire on security personnel and tried to escape. To take the situation under control security personnel also started counter fire. The gun battle between two took for long period. It was suspected more than 300-400 mao cadres would have camping on the spot.
The gun battle concluded with no casualty. After the incident police searched the area and ascertained huge amount of arms ammunition along with mao equipments. Police and security personnel speeded up the combing operation in the Tulasi Pahad area to catch the escaped maoists.
