In the Malkangiri district of Odisha, a man who allegedly sold his wife’s kidney in 2018 was detained on Sunday.
Prasant Kundu, a resident of Kotameta village in the district’s Malkangiri police jurisdiction, has been identified as the person who was detained.
After the victim complained about her husband to the Malkangiri police station on August 24, Kundu was taken into custody.
According to the complaint, Prasant secretly took one kidney from his wife Ranjita and later sold it without her knowledge in 2018 while she was there with him for a health checkup at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
The woman just went to the clinic because of abdominal pain and learned that she was missing a kidney.
According to his wife, Kundu allegedly sold the kidney to Asim Haldar of the Malkangiri district’s MV 38 hamlet.
In the meantime, the wife has requested that her husband get harsh punishment.
