The victim has been identified as Ramesh Rout, a resident of Ward No-3 of Anandpur Notified Area Council (NAC) area.
As per the neighbours of the victim, the fire broke out at his house late last night and engulfed the room in which he was asleep very rapidly. They rushed to the spot after hearing the screams of the victim and broke into his room to rescue him with critical burn injury.
Ramesh was taken to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment and later shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to critical condition.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
