JAIPUR:After the imposition of President’s rule in Maharashtra on Tuesday, Maharashtra Congress MLAs, who had been staying at a five-star resort in Jaipur, will fly back to the state on Wednesday.

The 44 Congress MLAs, who had been staying at a five-star resort close to the Jaipur Delhi Highway, will fly back on Wednesday afternoon.

The MLAs had been brought to Jaipur in a possible attempt by the Congress to prevent any poaching attempt amid hectic deliberations over the possibilities of government formation in Maharashtra.

Senior Congress leaders on Tuesday had reached the Jaipur resort after meeting the high command and claimed willingness to join hands with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. The senior leaders had openly evinced their willingness to join a coalition government in the state.

Congress leaders including KC Padavi, Rajasthan state in-charge and senior party leader Avinash Pande, had arrived in Jaipur after meeting the party high command in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.

On the question of whether ideological differences with the Shiv Sena have been creating hiccups, Padavi mentioned that even the BJP had aligned with Mehbooba Mufti in Kashmir and that is why questions need not be raised about the Congress deciding to ally with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. He also mentioned that the Shiv Sena is not RSS, clearly conveying that the Congress MLAs do not have any apprehensions about allying with Uddhav Thackeray’s party in that state.

Earlier, hectic meetings were held in Delhi in which, apart from the Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi and several senior Congress leaders from Maharashtra including Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan, Balasaheb Thorat Mallikarjun Kharge and others were present. Extensive discussions were held about the process of government formation in Maharashtra.

Avinash Pande, Vijay Vettiwad and KC Padavi arrived at the Jaipur resort where the Maharashtra Congress MLAs have been staying for the past five days. The Congress MLAs have conveyed their desire to be a part of the government in Maharashtra led by the Shiv Sena.

However, there was a sense amongst a certain section of the Congress leaders that allying with a party like the Shiv Sena can have its repercussions during elections in states such as Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand being there in not too distant future. These apprehensions were conveyed to Sonia Gandhi.
