Following the murder of Odisha Minister Naba Das, Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra surrendered his personal security officer (PSO).

“As I don’t have any trust on Odisha Police, I gave up the PSO appointed by the state government for my protection. I will not seek protection from the Odisha Police. “Police officers are working for political parties,” Mishra explained.

He had previously slammed the state government, claiming that the minister died on the spot and that a drama was staged to delay the announcement of his death.

According to him, the government did this to give the impression that the minister was alive while being transferred from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar for treatment.

On the other hand, BJD MLA Rajkishore Das stated that Mishra is facing a murder charge and that he should not make such comments.

“Was Mishra present at the scene of the incident to determine whether the minister died there or not? “He should avoid making such statements,” the MLA said.

Notably, on January 29, the minister was allegedly shot in the chest by Gopal Das, a former ASI of police, at Gandhi Chhak in the Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district. When the minister stepped out of his car to attend an inauguration ceremony, his supporters were showering him with flowers.

In critical condition, he was rescued and rushed to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. As his condition worsened, the minister was airlifted to Bhubaneswar and admitted to Apollo Hospital.

However, he died from bullet wounds while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
